Record a file that is already on the server

Only writes the database row. The file has to be in private-downloads/ already, and the name must match it exactly.

Uploading keeps the file's own name, archives the build it replaces, and — unless you clear the box — makes it the one buyers get.

Only people with an active licence for that product, minus anyone who unsubscribed. Release notes come from the version record — set them when you upload the build. A run that stops partway can be started again; nobody gets it twice.

Revoking is not immediate. The app checks its licence offline and only asks the server again about once a month, so a revoked key keeps working on that computer until it next checks in. That is deliberate — nobody gets locked out mid-show by a server — but it means revoke is not an off switch.

One computer per key is the default on purpose. A key that allows five ends up on five laptops. The note is the only record of where a key went, so it is required.

A licence counts as bought only when a Stripe checkout created it. Free claims, the giveaway button and anything added by hand show as free or manual, so the licence count is not the sale count.
